Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is your jewellery handmade?Yes! Every piece is handcrafted with care, meaning no two are exactly alike. Small variations and imperfections add to the uniqueness and charm of each piece.
-
What metals do you use in your jewellery?❊ Sterling Silver (925 Silver): A high-quality metal made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals (usually copper) for added strength. It's durable, timeless, and can be polished if it tarnishes. ❊ 14k Gold-Filled: A high-quality alternative to solid gold, gold-filled jewellery consists of a thick layer of real gold (at least 5% of the total weight) pressure-bonded to a base metal. It’s very durable and won’t wear off easily.
-
Is gold-filled jewellery the same as gold-plated?No, gold-filled jewellery has a much thicker layer of gold than gold-plated jewellery. While gold-plated pieces may wear off quickly, gold-filled jewellery is designed to last for many years with proper care.
-
Will sterling silver tarnish?Yes, sterling silver can tarnish over time due to exposure to air, moisture, and chemicals. However, it can be easily cleaned with the polishing cloth provided to restore its shine. Regular wear can also help prevent tarnish, as the natural oils from your skin keep it looking bright.
-
What materials do you use?I work with a variety of natural elements, including: ❊ Gemstones: Hand-selected for their unique beauty, I use both raw and polished gemstones, often inspired by coastal and tropical landscapes. ❊ Shells: I aim for ethically sourced shells or recycled shells to add an organic, beachy feel to my designs, capturing the essence of the ocean. ❊ Pearls: I use natural and cultured pearls, each with its own subtle variations, giving every piece a timeless and elegant touch. I also incorporate recycled pearls from old jewellery as much as possible, giving them new life in fresh designs while embracing sustainability. ❊ Other Natural Elements: From sea glass to unique coastal finds, I love incorporating elements that reflect the beauty of nature.
-
Will shells and pearls change over time?Yes, like all natural materials, shells and pearls are delicate and can change with exposure to water, perfumes, and harsh chemicals. To keep them looking beautiful: ❊ Avoid prolonged exposure to water and humidity. ❊ Store them separately to prevent scratching. ❊ Wipe pearls and shells with a soft, damp cloth after wearing to remove any oils or residue.
-
Can I wear my jewellery every day?Yes! Sterling silver and gold-filled jewellery are great for everyday wear.
-
What if my jewellery gets damaged? If your piece arrives damaged or breaks due to a craftsmanship issue, please contact me as soon as possible for repair or replacement options.

How do I care for my sterling silver jewellery?Sterling silver naturally tarnishes over time, but with proper care, it will stay beautiful for years. Here’s how to keep it looking its best: ❊ Wear it often – The natural oils from your skin help prevent tarnish. ❊ Store it properly – Keep it in an airtight bag or jewellery box or the pouch it arrives in when not in use to minimize exposure to air and moisture. ❊ Polish gently – Use a soft polishing cloth to remove tarnish and restore shine. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. ❊ Avoid chemicals – Perfumes, lotions, and cleaning products can accelerate tarnishing, so put your jewellery on last when getting ready.
-
Why does sterling silver tarnish, and how can I prevent it?Sterling silver reacts with oxygen and moisture, causing it to darken over time. To slow down tarnishing: ❊ Store it in a dry, airtight container. ❊ Keep it away from harsh chemicals and humidity. ❊ Regularly wipe it with a polishing cloth. While sterling silver may tarnish over time, its quality remains unchanged. It can be easily restored to its original shine either by a professional jeweller or, for a quick fix, with a polishing cloth.
-
How do I clean tarnished sterling silver?❊ Use a jewellery polishing cloth to gently buff away tarnish. ❊ For a deeper clean, mix warm water with mild soap and gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry thoroughly. ❊ Avoid silver dips or chemical cleaners, as they can strip the metal’s finish.
-
How do I care for gold-filled jewellery?Gold-filled jewellery is more durable than plated pieces, but it still benefits from proper care to ensure its long-lasting beauty. ❊ Clean gently – Wipe with a soft cloth or wash with mild soap and water. Pat dry with a soft cloth. ❊ Avoid harsh chemicals – Perfume, sunscreen, and lotions can dull the finish over time. ❊ Store properly – Keep in a jewellery pouch or box to prevent scratches.
-
Can I wear my jewellery in water? While exposure to water won’t ruin your jewellery, it may cause tarnishing and wear down the wax finish. This doesn’t affect the quality, but some polishing will be needed to restore its original shine. For optimal longevity, it's best to remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, or exercising.
-
What should I do if my jewellery starts to look dull? For sterling silver, a quick polish with the polishing cloth provided should bring back the shine. For gold-filled jewellery, washing with mild soap and water can help remove buildup and restore its luster.
-
Will my jewellery last forever? With proper care, both sterling silver and gold-filled jewellery can last a lifetime. Sterling silver may require occasional polishing, while gold-filled pieces are designed to be long-lasting with gentle care.

How do I choose the right necklace length? Here are some common necklace lengths and where they typically fall (with both inches and centimeters): ❊ 14-16 inches / 35-40 cm: Sits snugly around the neck. ❊ 17-18 inches / 43-46 cm: Falls just above the collarbone—classic and versatile. ❊ 20-24 inches / 51-61 cm: Sits at or slightly below the neckline, great for layering. ❊ 28-34 inches / 71-86 cm: Hangs at chest level or lower, perfect for statement pieces. To find the ideal length, you can measure around your neck or use a piece of string or other necklace and compare it to a ruler or measuring tape.
-
How do I measure my bracelet or anklet size?To measure for a bracelet, wrap a soft measuring tape around your wrist just above the bone, where you would normally wear your bracelet. Make sure the tape is snug but not tight. If you don’t have a measuring tape, use a piece of string and then measure the length against a ruler. Add 1-2 cm to the measurement for extra comfort. To measure for an anklet, use the same method as for a bracelet. Wrap a measuring tape or string around your ankle, just above the bone. Add about 2.5 to your measurement for a comfortable fit, depending on how loose or snug you like your anklets to fit.
-
How do I find my ring size? Here’s how to measure your ring size: ❊ Measure with String: Wrap a piece of string or paper around your finger and mark where it overlaps. Then, measure the length with a ruler or measuring tape and use the conversion chart below to find your size.
